Why You Deserve High Quality Towels
Most of us don’t think much about towels. We buy them when the ones we have are falling apart or threadbare and often buy the cheapest. After all, they’re just towels, right?
Wrong. Towels affect you in ways you may not have considered. Here’s why high quality towels are a better choice and why you deserve them.
They Feel Great
Perhaps you’ve never considered towels as a luxury. However, if you step out of the shower and grab a low-quality towel you’ll “feel” the difference.
High quality towels are soft and plush. They gently wick moisture away from skin, because they’re ultra-absorbent. Hotels spend plenty on high-quality towels, because they know they perform well and leave a positive and lasting impression on their guests.
Contrast that with the sensations you feel when you dry yourself with a low-quality towel. The towel’s woven much more loosely and it’s not as thick. It certainly doesn’t feel luxurious and some low-quality towels repel water so you never dry off completely.
Would you stay at a hotel again if the towels stunk? Probably not, so why put up with at home?
They Get Better & Better
Just when you thought you couldn’t improve high-quality towels, we have another surprise in store for you. They get better and better with each laundering, because they soften over time. They’re fluffier and more enjoyable after every laundering and they hold their shape.
Contrast that with what happens to low-quality towels. They might look great when you first buy them, but the moment they hit the washer and dryer, things change.
They lose their shape and begin looking like a limp dishrag. Colors fade, patterns vanish, and you need to buy towels, again.
They Perform
Synthetic towels don’t perform as well as cotton - period. Cotton is super-absorbent, natural, and it is the best choice for white towels if you want to keep them looking their best.
High-quality towels rely on long staple cotton with long fibers. When woven, these fibers create a stronger, softer yarn suitable for luxury towels.
Typically, makers twist yarn multiple times before they weave it into an inexpensive towel. It’s less expensive than buying premium cotton and the twisting blends short, rough fibers with longer, smoother fibers.
Unfortunately, this method doesn’t create a durable or luxurious towel. The short fibers are weak and break. Instead, consider combed cotton or zero-twist towels for quality.
Luxury Options
Combed cotton towels undergo a pre-weaving process using high-grade cotton. “Combing” cotton yarns removes impurities and short, weak threads to create smooth, long strands with strength and softness.
Combed cotton towels are also less likely to form irritating balls of loose fibers on the surface (pilling) since the fibers are longer and stronger.
As the name suggest, zero-twist towels don’t rely on twisted fibers. They use premium, long staple cotton fibers and protect them so they remain “open” during the dying and weaving process. This creates towels that readily absorb water, weigh less, and dry quicker. They’re ultra-soft, fluffy, and suitable for busy households
