Creating a Home Oasis

Coming home after a long day is often the highlight of our day. Your home is your safe place, your peace, and it should reflect that. Home isn’t just about the things you put in it; it’s how it makes you feel when you walk into it. Creating a home oasis is something most strive for. Your environment can influence your mood and mental health, so shouldn’t we strive to make our environment a happy, peaceful, and comforting place? Here are some tips on how to turn your house into a home by creating your own oasis home.

Get rid of clutter

Have you ever walked into a room that was full of clutter and felt overwhelmed and agitated? Like you just couldn’t sit down and calm your mind because of the disarray that surrounded you. Clutter affects more than you think. It can cause issues with focus and promote and maintain stress. When it comes to oasis home improvement, removing clutter and disarray is the first step.

The best way to do this is to go room by room. We can become even more overwhelmed and frustrated when we try to do multiple rooms at a time. So, pick a room and start clearing everything out into another area of the house. Think about the goal for your room while you are clearing your space. Once your space is cleared out, decide what you want to keep and what you don’t. When doing this, keep in mind the goal you set for your space and whether or not the things you are choosing to keep support that goal.

Tranquility room ideas

With the hustle and bustle of life, it is easy to forget that our home should be our calm place. Even when there is chaos going on around you, how your home is set up can bring you peace when you start to feel overwhelmed with the demands of life. There are a number of ways to bring tranquility into your home:

  • Use color to support your oasis home goals. Color is a significant factor in how your home makes you feel. To make your home give you that calm and comforting feeling that comes when we think about an oasis, try implementing whites, neutral tones, and pastels to give your space that light, airy feeling when you walk into it.
  • Creating a green space in your home has proven to boost mood and lower anxiety and depression. Add greenery to your space to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
  • Aromatherapy is an efficient way to elevate your space and mood. Candles and diffusers are great for adding comforting scents to any room.
  • Don’t overlook texture. Layering textures add a sense of luxury and warmth. Linens, rugs, curtains, and pillows can help you achieve that.
  • Fun curtains will help bring the room together and keep harsh light at bay when it is unwanted.

Oasis bedroom

Even though your bedroom is not the hangout spot for entertaining company, it is probably the most important room in your home. Your bedroom is where you relax and recharge after the day’s work is done. Your bedroom is your private space, free from the constant activity that seems to go on in the rest of your home. Bringing those peaceful feelings into your bedroom is not a difficult task. Like with anything else, creating a goal, planning, and thoughtful execution will help you turn your room into the oasis you want it to be.

A restful bed

The bed is the focal point of every bedroom. It should be the most significant piece of furniture to occupy your space. A quality mattress is where to start if you do not already have a good bed. If buying a new one isn’t in the budget, try using a mattress topper to add some comfort.

Now, let’s talk linens. Comfortable quality linens can elevate your room from drab and dull to luxurious and cozy. Quilt comforters and pattern duvets are excellent choices when you want to curl up in bed and get comfortable.

Adding some throw pillows can give your bed that upscale plush look that makes you want to throw yourself face-first into it.

Remember to think light and airy when choosing your colors to optimize the sense of an oasis.

Don’t underestimate the power of natural light

Lighting is such a crucial part of creating a bedroom oasis. If you don’t have a good source of natural light, there are steps you can take to fake natural light. White reflects light. Add a light cream color or beige area rug to your bedroom to reflect any whites already present in the room. Add multiple light sources at varying heights to rid yourself of dark places.

Patterns

When the goal is a tranquil oasis, opt for solids and subtle patterns. Busy patterns don’t usually support calm and cozy décor goals. Subtle patterns add some depth without upstaging the rest of the room.

Carve out your own personal nook

Add an oversized chair, a side table, and a soft blanket to a corner of your room to create your own relaxation space. Throw in a small rug and a book, and you have a slice of paradise.

No matter how you choose to spruce up your space, remember that it should reflect your style and personality. The tips in this post are suggestions, not rules. It is a guide you can keep in mind when choosing how you want to create your space. The last tip we want to offer is to have fun with it. Creating your oasis space should be enjoyable, so take it in strides. Don’t overwhelm yourself and forget to have fun. Be creative when designing your own space.
